Not perfectly. A house that old has settled into a shape over time, and trying to make it dead level would crack plaster and bind every door. The survey shows how much is old movement and how much is recent, and we treat what's still moving.
It sits on a stone foundation. Can piers go under stone?
They can. We look at how the stone is laid and where it's bearing, and piers or supports go in at points that pick up the load without disturbing the wall more than we need to. The plan is drawn up after the survey, specific to that foundation.
Will lifting the house crack our old plaster?
That's the main thing we plan around. Load goes back in small stages so plaster has time to follow, and on old Liberty homes we'd settle for a little less lift before we'd risk the walls. We talk through that target with you before starting.
We're close to Smith Fork. Does the creek have anything to do with it?
Likely. Ground near the creek stays wetter, and soil that sits wet carries less weight. The corner nearest the water is often the one that's dropped, and drainage away from the house is sometimes part of the repair.
