The floor steps down where the addition starts. Can that be levelled out?
Partly, and how much depends on which section moved and what the finishes will take. Additions were framed to their own standard with their own supports, so the two floors have been settling at different rates. The scan shows which side dropped, and the supports go under that one.
Someone shimmed the beam under our house with boards. Is that holding anything?
Stacked shims and scrap lumber compress and slip, so after a few years they are usually doing very little. What replaces them is a support on an engineered base pad set to a measured elevation, which carries the load properly and can be fine tuned later.
Our floors squeak everywhere. Is that a support problem?
