Structural questions
How do I know if my home has a foundation problem?
Common signs include cracks in walls or floors, uneven or sloping floors, doors or windows sticking, bowing or leaning basement walls, gaps around trim, doors, or exterior brick, and water seepage in the crawlspace or basement. If you notice any of these, it's best to have a professional assessment.
Is a sloping floor always a foundation problem?
No. A floor that dips or bounces with no cracking in the walls is usually the framing underneath it, which is a smaller repair than pier work. Telling the two apart is what the measured scan is for.
Why measure elevations before quoting the repair?
Because piers cost money at every location, and the scan shows the handful of places where the load actually needs picking up. It also gives us a baseline, so the annual service call can show whether anything has moved since.
Can foundation problems affect my home's value?
Yes. Unrepaired foundation or moisture issues can lower property value and cause problems during a home sale or assessment.
